Blowin' Up Stuff

Well, we attended the Centerville, OH, 4th of July parade yesterday, in spite of a rain that came and went.

I haven't much time to narrate, but you know what a parade is all about, anyway...

...people on horses...

...spectators decked out in fine regalia...

...more horses...

...more spectators...

...licensed characters that don't look quite kosher...

...kids that really get into the spirit...

...different kinds of "kids" that would have, in another time, been familiars of the devil but now pull cheery wagons...

...kids just happy to wave a flag...

...and jackalopes in raincoats.

Speaking of which, Ace Jackalope watches a faux Lincoln and ponders his upcoming trip to "The Land of Lincoln."

This independence will not last, the Empire will crush the rebels.

Yep, it was really raining, as this runny Uncle Sam illustrates.

Of course, there's a positive side to everything...

...and the rain did have its aesthetically pleasing aspects, as we saw in a short walk after the parade.

This was a great day for the traditional cookout. Ace loves animals, especially with cheese.

A visit to a fireworks store yielded an interesting episode. Apparently, you're not supposed to buy fireworks in Ohio for use in that state, and are required to sign a form stating that you won't. The gentleman with whom I did business informed me of this and helpfully filled in a legal location.

By astonishing coincidence, I happened to be nearby when some people - I won't say where - were enjoying pyrotechnics.

Goodbye for a few days; we're going to recover from the 4th and do a little driving; catch ya later!
